Koepelkerk
The domed church (R.K. church St. Cyriacus and Franciscus) of the Dutch city Hoorn is a three-aisled cross basilica with galleries and a dome above the celebration. The building completely fills the terrain that was available, making the façade run in relation to the rest of the church. The domed church was built by the Hoorn architect A. C. Bleijs, on the spot where De Drie Tulpen used to be.
The opening took place in 1882. In 1993 the church was restored. The church is dedicated to the Saints Francis of Assisi and Cyriacus. The building and the religious community have been part of the Roman Catholic Parish Saint Matthew since January 2013.
In the church there is a gallery around which a number of stations of the cross have been placed. These stations were manufactured in 1881 by the Stracke workshop from Bentheimer sandstone.
The pulpit in the church comes from the former De Drie Tulpen shanty church that preceded the present church. The shelter church has stood at the Achterom. The pulpit is by W.F. Krajenschot manufactured. On the chair are Saints Bernardinus of Siena, Bonaventura Antonius and Leonardus. The chair has the shape of a chalice. The pulpit was, before the church became a national monument in 1988, an independent national monument.
As part of the Holy Matthew parish, the church uses the burial skate on the Drieboomlaan. This cemetery was also designed by Adrianus Bleijs.
The church is registered in the national monument register under number 333537.
