Hoorn Noord
The district is located against the city center. The construction started around 1910, the last parts were built around 1960. The Merensstraat (originally planned as Krugerstraat) dates from the beginning. The workers' houses at the beginning of the Drieboomlaan date from around 1905; the Koepoortsweg counts many houses from the end of the 19th century. The district, together with the Venenlaankwartier, was the first city extension outside the singels. The Westfries Gasthuis is located in Hoorn-Noord. On the site of the Streekhof, until 2004, the Streekziekenhuis was a branch of the Westfries Gasthuis until the demolition of the hospital.
