Zwaag is a village, located within the city limits of Hoorn. This farming village was once surrounded by estates, but modern times have caught up with it and it is connected to the old VOC city. You see a lot of greenhouse horticulture here and in the spring the village is surrounded by blooming tulip fields: a magnificent sight!
Despite this, Zwaag has always retained its village character. Such as each year, when the largest carnival procession north of the great rivers is held. The villagers spend months working on the various floats and once the day finally arrives no less than fifty thousand people from far and wide come to watch the long conga line that sways through the village.
