Zandwerven is a small farming municipality located in the West Frisian countryside between big brothers Spanbroek and Obdam. All hundred and forty of the Zandwerven inhabitants thoroughly agree: this is the ‘best place to live’. This was always the case, as the village belongs to one of the oldest inhabited villages in West Friesland, because the high sand ridge made sure that the villagers kept their feet dry.
The surrounding area is particularly beautiful, peaceful and spacious. Excellent material for a challenging bike ride. For example, follow cycling network junctions 41 and 45 that wind through the meadows and over the dikes before descending to the large city of Hoorn. On the way, a lot of grassland birds in particular with a farmhouse here and there and for the rest...peace and quiet.
