The village of Warmenhuizen (‘Wermehúze’ in West Frisian dialect) is a real farming village. Cabbage, corn and potatoes: the wide open fields are full of them. The village has a historical centre and the characteristic farmhouses are reminders of the first farmers who returned to live here several centuries ago. During the autumn months, all kinds of calabashes and pumpkins are sold during the Harvest and Pumpkin fair at the Marlequi nursery. You will also find flower bulbs, garden plants and home-made jam here, as well as basket weaving and sheep herding demonstrations!
Enjoy a lovely day out with your children or grandchildren and visit De Kneppeltuin. In the pick-your-own garden you can pick a basket full of strawberries, gooseberries, raspberries, blackberries and many kinds of cut flowers. Afterwards, enjoy a cup of coffee or tea with a strawberry dish or a strawberry ice cream on the terrace. An oasis of peace.
