‘Van wie bin je d’r ientje?’? As you wander through Sijbekarspel, you will probably be asked this question ('Where are you from?') in a thick West Frisian accent. This is a small farming village where everyone shows plenty of interest. There is always someone in the picturesque village centre who will give you a friendly pointer in the right direction. Around Sijbekarspel it is primarily peace and quiet that prevails, and the odd sound of a grassland bird can be heard here and there. Or you'll see the Hoorn-Medemblik steam tram pass by as it slowly winds its way through the green countryside. Nobody is in a real hurry here.
