A mighty forest once stood here, but this is now the site of the smallest village in the De Wieringermeer polder: Kreileroord. Now that there is no trace of the forest, it is primarily open space that predominates beyond the village centre. A few farmhouses, several wind turbines and furthermore a quiet and spacious landscape only two kilometres from the IJsselmeer. Also located there is the harbour De Oude Zeug, where the materials for reclaming the Wieringermeer were supplied. There is now a yacht building yard and there are plans for a modern marina in the near future.
