You wouldn't think so, but the West Frisian village of Blokker that nestles so cosily against the historic VOC city of Hoorn, was world news in 1964. That was because it was the only place in the Netherlands where ‘the Fab Four’, otherwise known as The Beatles, performed. The musicians were received in the auction hall amid high-pitched screams and over fifty years later Blokker is still proud of its place in the pop history of the Netherlands.
Memories of the Beatles is not the only thing that Blokker has to offer. At MAK Blokweer Visitor Centre nature lovers can learn everything about the surrounding nature. There is a lot to discover for young and old. For example, get to know the animals on the open farm or choose one of the many treasure troves. You can also get nice and dirty in the nature play park, where you can enjoy playing with the best things about Mother Nature: sand, water and stones.
Tip! Restaurant de Nadorst, based in a nostalgically furnished traditional farmhouse, is perfect for sitting with its spacious terrace. Or perhaps you'd prefer to participate in West Frisian games - or one of the other theme evenings?
