The Wogmeer, as the name suggests, was once a lake situated beside the villages of Hensbroek and Obdam. In 1608 it was one of the first polders to be reclaimed. One of the six windmills that were used for the reclamation, Nieuw Leven, still stands on the west side of the dike around the Wogmeer that is over 12 kilometres long.
From the dike you can see the inviting green landscape of pasture lands and Holland skies that are begging to be discovered by bike. And at the windmill there is a hiking route that passes beside the circular canal and right through a small nature reserve. Here you will find sheep, geese flying overhead and high reeds. Wogmeer also has a real mini golf course: Het Wapen van Wogmeer. It is also a restaurant where you can enjoy a meal with the entire family in an old Dutch atmosphere!
