Drive over a traditional North Holland pontoon bridge to reach the 7th century village of 't Zand. Quietly situated beside the wide waters of the Canal and in the heart of the flower bulb fields that are resplendent in colour every spring: pink, purple and red. You are never far from the coast here (3 kilometres) and the historical town centre of Schagen is only 5 kilometres away.
Just outside the village you will find the almost 400-year-old duck decoy. At one time it provided a source of income, but is now a place to experience nature close up. It is especially magnificent here during spring, when everything is in bloom and you can spy countless birds from the observation hut. Visitors who want to enjoy 't Zand for longer can spend the night at a mini campsite, in a Bed & Breakfast or in one of the private holiday homes.
