This is the oldest village of the Zuiderzee polder. A unique spot in the northernmost part of North Holland: not far from the Waddenzee and surrounded by the lowland of the Wieringer Lake. Slootdorp has no more than a thousand inhabitants, and yet they are the proud owners of a small airfield (which is used by a gliding club).
Every year, Slootdorp is home to the 'Midsummer Festivals' where the summer is celebrated with theatre, bingo and a car boot sale. The late summer (and spring) is also celebrated by the nursery Bloeiers: enjoy a tour here of the greenhouses full of summer bloomers, ornamental fruits, decorative vegetables and edible flowers.
