This is primarily a place for enjoying the best views across the polderlands of North Holland. The village of Sint Maarten is located at the foot of the West Frisian Circular Dike. This 126-kilometre-long monument is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and was built in the sixteenth century by West Frisian farmers to protect humans and animals from the sea. It is now primarily a place for cycling and walking.
Sint Maarten is quietly situated four kilometres from the dunes and two kilometres from the lovely town of Schagen. Pump some air into your tires and in no time you'll be dipping your toes into the North Sea or shopping in style between the town's historical buildings. The beautiful bungalow park and campsite De Wielen is popular among families with children, who all know how beautiful it is here.
