This picturesque dike village was once the mooring spot for VOC ships. At that time, Oudesluis was still located on the muddy offshoots of the Zuiderzee. The ships chose to navigate the tidal inlet via Marsdiep. The old lock can still be visited!
From Oudesluis the sea is not far. For a day on the beach simply take a bike. Moreover, you will find enough campsites and holiday homes here if you want to stay longer.
P.S: Did you know that Oudesluis still has three windmills? They date from 1764, 1848 and 1896 respectively.
