Drive via the Frik over the old bridge near the Skarpetweg and you'll immediately see beautiful Oude Niedorp ahead of you. On the right, you can hear the sounds of splashing in recreation lake 't Skarpet and in the distance the sails of Corn Windmill De Hoop. The tiny village centre of Oude Niedorp mainly consists of farmhouses and listed 'stolp' farmhouses, a few of which are still working. There are also the ruins of a church. Meadows full of sheep and cows beside the narrow ditches: welcome to West Friesland.
During the third weekend of August, the Nazomeren Festival is also held in Oude Niedorp. Over fifty garden owners, artists and hobbyists invite everyone to admire their creations. Thousands of people gladly accept that invitation! An excellent cycle route that includes all the participating villages is mapped out: Barsingerhorn, Haringhuizen, Kolhorn, Lutjewinkel, Nieuwe Niedorp, Oude Niedorp, 't Veld and Winkel. Themes for Nazomeren in Niedorp include: gardening, art, exhibitions, music and country life.
