With its old wooden houses, late Gothic church, eighteenth-century farmhouses and magnificent waterside location, Oosthuizen immediately catches the eye. Stroll through the narrow streets, over small wooden bridges, and visit the Great Church with its hidden treasures (including a unique fifteenth-century organ). Cycle effortlessly from this enchanting village into the green countryside. Do a circuit of Zeevang, straight through the polder landscape that lies to the north of Edam. Or simply visit spontaneously. You will automatically encounter something beautiful.

Right on the outskirts of Oosthuizen - near the Markermeer - you will find Dik Trom's Little School. Over a century ago, teacher C. Joh Kieviet wrote his first book here about Dik Trom. A naughty little boy with a heart of gold. The school remains as it was in the past, with one classroom, an original stove, nostalgic blackboards and clogs under the coat rack. Children can walk around in clogs and write on slates with a slate pencil. Did you know that there are some great options for overnight stays in Oosthuizen? One example is bed & Breakfast Het Kerkje van Etersheim (also near the Markermeer), where you can sleep in an enchanting little church!
Tip! Visitors with camper vans camp at the Oosthuizen recreation junction near the N247, where a 48-hour stay is permitted.
