With 200 inhabitants, Lambertskaag, as the real West Frisians say, is a real hamlet. You can recognise the village from the spire of the Green Church that has looked out across this friendly village full of traditional 'stolp' farmhouses and agricultural companies for years. The church was also saved from collapse by the villagers and continues to be a venue for concerts and cabaret to this day.
Safely behind the high bank of the West Frisian Circular Dike, history goes back before the time that the Wieringermeer polder existed. At that time, the Zuiderzee was the angry neighbour of the village. It regularly pounded parts out of the dike. The battle against the sea has always been palpable here. Today, cyclists and hikers make grateful use of the dike that is so prominently present and provides the finest panoramas.
