Ilpendam is situated in the stunning backyard of Amsterdam. This farming village, accessible by ferry, is located in the green and water-rich world to the north of the River IJ. With its wide open meadows, reed lined narrow canals, winding dikes, tiny bridges, cows and traditional farmhouses. Where you travel by boat in the summer and skate in the winter. Ilpendam is located in Waterland (and partly in Landsmeer). A nature reserve that is best admired from the water. From Ilpendam it is also easy to explore 't Twiske recreation area by bike, from cycling network junctions 21 and 23. And drink a cup of coffee afterwards in Ilpendam, with a view of the old church. The annual Parckpop festival takes place every August in Burgemeester van Oorschotplantsoen. Admission is free.
