The best way to discover the environment around the countryside village of Hobrede is by boat. Or by canoe, of course. Because fantastic canoe trips are organized from Hobrede, straight through the old fenland with its long stretches of grassy fields, wide canals and equally pretty villages such as Middelie and Kwadijk. Sail the same route as the farmers of yesteryear, who were only able to reach the separate islands on which their cows stood by boat. After the redistribution of land in 1956 this all changed, and enabled farmers to drive on their land and do their work with machinery. But a boat like this is much more romantic isn't it?

Tip! Take your children to visit the lambs in the springtime at Wennekers farm in Hobrede. The adorable little lambs are fed by bottle and can be stroked.
