This old fen area originally formed a ‘heerlijkheid’ or manor, together with Spanbroek, Opmeer and Obdam. To this very day it is still a joy to visit medieval Hensbroek, a small polder village with grand panoramas. In the quaint village centre you will find a church dating from 1658, where regional artists exhibit each year. The church also serves as a good starting point for a bike or hike that runs straight through the old Hensbroek polder. A lovely spot to rest is near the monumental windmill on the Oudelandsdijkje.
On a summer's day you can swim in nearby lake De Leijen. You will also find the Chaletpark Holiday campsite here. Young visitors will have a wonderful time in indoor playground Kinderparadijs Koggenland!
