Hauwert is located between a patchwork quilt of meadows. You will find this small ribbon village a stone's throw from Medemblik and Hoorn - primarily inhabited by rural folk - where a beautiful white church still stands today. Lovers of world music regularly gather here to enjoy a concert with a cosmopolitan theme. You can also enjoy plenty of good cycling and hiking in the vicinity of Hauwert. And the slightly further afield nature reserve of Groundwater is an oasis of peace and quiet. In addition to hiking and cycling, you can go fishing, sailing and enjoy the many waterfowl that descend here.
Tip! At the village museum 't Yachters the private collection of Fred van Heisenberg can be admired: police uniforms, coffee grinders, portable gramophones, radios and much more.
