The picturesque village of Burgerbrug is situated in the oldest polder in North Holland (the Zijpepolder). The historical village centre is dominated by the old Starre Kroon farmhouse and a lovely little church with small, stained-glass windows. Surrounding the village are the pyramids of the polder: traditional North Holland 'stolp' farmhouses. Every year, the villagers celebrate with well-organised festivals, such as the yearly fair in the summer, the fair in September and the widely celebrated carnival (Burgerbrug is a Catholic village). And at a distance of 3 kilometres, the beach at Petten awaits.Â
