Bovenkarspel has become internationally famous thanks to Westfriese Flora, the largest flower bulb exhibition in the world. Nowadays, this famous flower show is known as Westfriese Mini Flora, where the most beautiful flower bulbs are grandly exhibited on a small-scale. Absolutely worth a visit for garden lovers!
This bulb region near Enkhuizen has many more lovely things to offer, however. To the north of the village you will find the Streekbos, a unique nature and recreation forest. Follow the ‘Gouwe Voeten’ barefoot path, discover the night sky at the observatory or challenge yourself in the climbing park where young and old can take on a daring obstacle course between the trees. At the end of the day take a refreshing dive in the Markermeer. You will also find the cosy Broekerhaven day campsite here, a paradise for families with young children.
