From coast to city; Holland above Amsterdam will surprise you!

Discover a typically Dutch part of the Netherlands with a rich historical offer, beautiful nature and beautiful views. There is much to see and experience along the three coasts of Holland above Amsterdam and in the green inland. Six pleasant routes along hidden gems and special drop-off points.

1. Wonderful Wieringen

Discover the former island of Wieringen with beautiful views, extensive nature and nice villages. From Den Oever you cycle along the IJsselmeer coast, through the Robbenoordbos, to the Amstelmeer and over the wadden dike. Visit the Wieringer Eilandmuseum Jan Lont and eat fresh fish in the harbor. From here you can also make excursions to the Wadden Sea Region.

2. Dunes and dikes route

Get a breath of fresh air in the dunes, step over dikes and ride with the wind through the polder. Sint Maartenszee, a small seaside resort with a beautiful wide beach, is the starting point. You cycle through Het Zwanenwater nature reserve with unique flora and fauna, and then through Petten through the Schoorlse Duinen. Take a break at one of the many beach pavilions.

3. Peddling through the salty air

Discover this beautiful area in the salty sea air. You start at Willemsoord. Formerly the ship and maintenance yard for the Royal Netherlands Navy, now a monumental part of Den Helder. Via the North Sea coast you go to Julianadorp, Callantsoog and back again via the polder. You can get off at the Reddingmuseum.

4. Pontjesroute

Swaying reeds, peat meadows, polder villages, a lake full of boats and tranquility; that is what you will encounter during this route. Along the way you cross the water several times with a ferry.

5. Stolpenroute Schagen

This route bridges the distance between Schagen and the beautiful coastal area. Along the way you will come across two museum farms that are worth a visit: the rich stolp Vreeburg in Schagen and the dune farm Tante Jaantje in Callantsoog. You will also pass the Nollen van Abbestede, a higher dune land with some iconic cloches and special dune flora.

6. Westfriese landroute

Experience the tranquility of West Friesland. From the vast IJsselmeer to the green inland, it all passes your eye during this route around the historic city of Medemblik. Here you will find the Dutch Steam Engine Museum and Radboud Castle. You can relax on the Vooroever, where you can enjoy the beach, nature and the many swamp and water birds.
