This is what is writen on the monument of the dyke that connects the provinces North-Holland and Friesland. The dyke is 32 km long from Den Oever to Zurich. This dyke is part of the Zuiderzeewerken which protects Holland from the water. The dyke was build between 1927 and 1932. The monument stands on the location where the dyke was closed, the connection was made. The monument is designed by architect Willem Dudok and is shaped as a watchtower.
A restaurant and shop is located next to the monument. Enjoy a coffee and a macnificent view of the IJsselmeer.
